Port Clinton has a special place in my heart. Growing up, my family had bought a trailer home right on the water. Every summer we would go up to Lake Erie frequently. My goal for this design was to portray the happiness that I had being at Lake Erie and around that community every summer.
To capture that feeling of happiness, I wanted to focus the design on the nature around the area. The blue color used relates back to the lake itself. The green represents all of the forest and wetlands around the lake. Psychology shows that nature is correlated to human well-being and happiness. The two main images used are meant to bring out that feeling in the user of the site. Some of the transitions also relate back to the water, which is the key to the happiness the area evokes, as well as a key element in the overall design.
